  Fiestas in Mallorca  
 

In most cases when people think of Spain they think of the fiestas, the country is well known for its celebrations and Mallorca is one of the destinations puts on lots of fiestas. The island celebrates the national holidays and have a few traditions of their own. One of the most popular is in May, a re-enactment of the battle of the Moors and Christians when the Christians regained control of Mallorca.

Here are some of the fiestas in Mallorca and Spain.

Mallorca Fiestas in January-March

  • January 1 : Sant Joan - Feast of the Circumcision
  • New year´s Day
  • 5th January Three Kings arrive in palma and parade through the city on there camels
  • 6th January Epiphany Day Epiphany "Three Kings Day" children receive Christmas presents and candy.
  • January 6 : Traditional Three Kings mass and celebrations.
  • January 16 : The fiesta of 'San Antonio Abad' : Here is the "Dance of the Devils" to portray the temptations that Sant Antoni was able to ignore. This is celebrated in Sa Pobla, Arta, and Sant Joan, local holiday. celebrated throught the island
  • January 17th San Anton Patron saint of domestic animals. Bonfires are lit and demon figures are used.
  • January 20th Fiesta of Sant Sebastiá
    Palma´s patron sant.the city celebrates morning mass and at night there´s a Grand firework display on the Paseo Maritimo.This is the best display of the year!
  • January 21 : Santa Agnes - local fiestas.
  • February : Carnivals are held throughout the island, fairgrounds, stalls, dancing and live music great parties!
  • February 3 : Sant Blai - villagers are anointed with the holy oil.
  • February 12 : Santa Eulalia - local fiestas
  • March 1st Balearic island Day. Celebrates autonomas rule of the islands
  • March 24th Maundy Thursday
    In palma La Sang (icon of christ on the Cross) is carried through the city.
  • March 25th Good Friday
    Processions in towns and villages across the island. Davallament (Lowering) in pallenca.in Palma the Ester funfair offers a lighter alternative to the celebrations.
  • Easter Week : Known as 'Saints Week' or Semana Santa with fiestas throughout the island starting Easter Friday.

  • 1st May Labour Day
  • April 2 : Sant Francesc - local fiestas
  • April 5 : Sant Vicenc de sa Cala - local fiestas
  • April 23 : Sant Jordi - local fiestas
  • June 13 : Arta - Sant Antoni de Juny Pollensa - Ball de les Aguiles - fiesta of Corpus Christi.
  • June 24 : Muro - fiesta of Sant Joan Sant Joan - Festa del Sol que Bailla.
  • June 29 : Palma, Puerto Alcudia - festival of Sant Pere
  • June 30 : Marratxi - Romeria de Sant Marcal, market and exhibition of traditional ornaments and "siurell."

  • Mallorca Fiestas inJuly-December
  • July 2 : Alcudia - Romeria a la Virgen de la Victoria.
  • 15th August Lady Day
  • 12th October Virgen del Pilar Patron Saint of Spain
  • 1st November All Saints Day - All Saints Day - relatives lay flowers on graves of the dead
  • 6th December Spanish Constitution Day.
  • 8th December Immaculate Conception - Our Lady reveals her identity as the Immaculate Conception to the Saint
  • 25th December Christmas Day - December 25th, Christ born in Bethlehem, Judea. This day, December 25, 336, is the first recorded celebration of Christmas.
  • 26th December St. Stephen's Day
  • 28 December Day of the inocent - Fools Day ,just a day an excuse to do silly things
