Museums in Majorca: Cathedral Museum

On show in the Belfry and Chapterhouses of the Cathedral: works of art belonging to the Chapterhouse that are not in constant use by the church,including gothic sculptures, painting & silversmith's craft collection.

Museums in Majorca: La Almudaina Royal Palace Museum
Palau Reial s/n, Palma

The Almudaina stands opposite Palma's Cathedral and has been home to Moorish governors and Mallorcan Kings. A tour of the palace takes you through the Hall of Guards, Arab bathrooms, staterooms and 14th century chapel.

Opening hours: Mon-Fri: 10:00-14:00h & 16:00-18:00h.

Exhibitions that represent difference periods of colonisation in Mallorca throughout the ages.
On show; a Greek-Punic boat, a Roman house and a replica of an Arab tomb. Other exhibits include a collection of Andalusian pottery and jewellery, Gothic paintings and Renaissance ceramics. Majorca's history from the last century comes in the form of Modernist furniture and paintings.

Opening hours: April to September, Tuesday to Saturday - 10:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 20:00,
Sunday - 10:00 to 14:00
October to March, Tuesday to Saturday - 10:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 18:00.

A good museum that shows the history of Palma. Also on display in the historical Castle rooms is the Cardenal Despuig Sculpture Collection. No information boards but beautiful objects.
Excellent views of the Bay of Palma from the Castle roof.

A magnificent building on the frontline of the city. It used to be where traders and port administrators met to do business but today the space is used for art exhibitions. Admission is usually free so take the opportunity to see inside this fabulous Gothic building even if the art doesn't appeal to you!
